A BAUPLE woman says it is only thanks to the safety features of her car that she is still alive today - and dramatic video footage has revealed how close to tragedy she came.

Judy Sokol's miraculous escape was captured on the dash-cam of her Ford Territory when a B-double truck jackknifed across the road in heavy rain as Judy was driving from Bauple to Maryborough last Wednesday.

The B-double crossed onto the wrong side of the road and smashed into the side of her car.

"He said his back trailer pulled him over to that side of the road," Judy said.

Another car, a Nissan ute, was also forced out of the way of the truck and into the side of Judy's car, causing more damage.

"It's a write-off," Judy said of her vehicle.

"I can't believe I survived that."

Aside from a cut lip and scratches and bruises, Judy said she escaped without injury, crediting the active rollover protection in her car, as well as seatbelts and airbags, with saving her life.

"They're very, very minor injuries," she said.

"I've just got a couple of aches and pain."

Judy can't remember braking before the collision, but says she tried to get out of the way of the oncoming truck, something she says she might have had more luck with if the driver had turned on the headlights of the truck to increase visibility in the poor weather conditions.

Instead, she had only moments to react when the truck crossed onto the wrong side of the road.

When a friend came to pick Judy up, her reaction was instant - she told her friend she had to go buy a Lotto ticket immediately.

"I got three numbers and with the next two numbers I was only one number off," she said.

"I think I'd used up all my luck."

Snr Const David Didsman said the incident would have been "extremely frightening".
