Luke O'Shea the big winner at this year's Golden Guitars

LUKE O'Shea has taken out three Golden Guitars in Tamworth, one of them his third consecutive gong for Heritage Song of the Year.

He also won Male Artist of the Year and APRA Song of the Year for Three Brothers (The Great War), which O'Shea said he wrote to remind people of the young men who lost their lives 100 years ago in WWI.

"With the hindsight that we have now, so many young men's lives were wasted," he said while accepting his award.

"I wanted to punch listeners in the nose with all of the flag waving that's going to go on this year. It was a tragedy.

"There are so many towns out there we pass through that have never recovered.
