WORKERS at Endeavour Industries have just had their hard yakka made a little easier.

The site has undergone an upgrade over the past couple of weeks, with the recycling collection service being boosted with around 50 new collection bins and a hydraulic tipper.

Together, the bins and tipper will cut down the employees' workload by about 30%.

A further $80,000 has been invested in a new truck which is capable of handling the new equipment.

Service manager Terry Politch said the arrival of the new machinery had been met with a warm response from the crew.

"Everybody is just rapt with it," he said.

"(The bins) have only been out a couple of weeks but they have already been so successful and will save our guys so much work."

The machine will automatically empty bins in seconds, instead of employees having to do it by hand.

The upgrade is also great news for local businesses, with Endeavour now able to spend more time out and about, collecting recyclable materials.

Mr Politch said over the Christmas period, the team had collected about 250 tonnes of cardboard.

"It is so much easier for our guys, but also makes things easier for the business houses we go to," he said.

"We just find the number of people recycling is increasing all the time and we have had 15 new businesses in the past three weeks."

Endeavour employee Toby Frost was hugely impressed with the centre's new equipment and was hopeful he would one day get the responsibility of operating the lifter.

"It's awesome because it is so easy and you don't have to lift it out," he said.

"With all the cardboard you usually have to empty half (by hand) and then tip the rest out."

Fellow employee Ted Colley said the new machinery and system would make a day's work a lot simpler for everyone.

"It's just straightforward and saves doing everything manually," he said.

A selection of employees are expected to receive training in operating the machinery over the next week or two.
