Main Beach closed after shark found and second reported

NOOSA'S Main Beach was closed this morning when  a 1.5m dead bull shark was pulled from the water and a second, larger shark was reported.

Members of the public found the shark at 7am and told lifeguards it was chased into the shallows by a bigger shark.

Surf Lifesaving Qld regional manager Aaron Purchase said the beach was closed for about two hours from 7.30am  while lifeguards searched for the second shark, on jetskis and from the land.

The Westpac helicopter will conduct a search of the area later today.

The 1.5m dead shark was picked up in a front-end loader and taken to a council truck for disposal.
