LETTER: Make an informed decision
I have organised the "Meet the Candidates" meeting on Monday night 29th February at Stanthorpe RSL.
Meeting will start promptly at 7pm and conclude at 9pm.
All new candidates who have supplied an email address have been contacted by email but only the first 10 to respond will be given 5 minutes to present what they have to offer the community on a newly elected council.
Eight new candidates had elected to have their email address withheld from public.
Other candidates are welcome but will have to mingle with the community members present at meeting.
Community members are strongly urged to come along and support the meeting and see what the future council may look like so that we can be informed and therefore make better choices BEFORE marking our ballot papers.
I am aware some candidates have visited Stanthorpe and Wallangarra but unless you were in town or at the show and come in contact with them - we have no idea who or what they would bring to new council.
I ask that members start arriving by 6.30pm so that the meeting can get started on time.
I don't think I can urge strongly enough how important this election will be if we want a better council to represent the region for the next 4 years. Remember, we get what we vote for, if you want change, come along and be "informed".
Confirmed guest speakers are Craig Magnussen, Julia Keogh, Maggie Stokes, Marika Mc Nichol, Sheryl Windle, Stephen Anastasi, Steve Hilton, Sue Johnson and Tracey Dobie.
