"They told me the value of the school," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"Why has the Newman Government earmarked these schools for closure?"

"We need all the voices of the Toowoomba region together to support these schools.

"We need to fight the good fight.

"We need to keep these school gates open."

She questioned whether or not Member for Toowoomba South John McVeigh had made a case for the schools when in cabinet meetings.

"I would ask John McVeigh, a cabinet minister, why he did not fight these closures around the cabinet table?

"Did he just sit there in silence and let this happen?"

She said she would raise the issue in Parliament next week.

"The Education Minister has a lot of explaining to do."
