Man, 55, dies in fiery crash on Bruce Hwy

CHARRED grassland was all that remained at the scene of a horrific head-on crash that killed a 55-year-old Brisbane man at Glenwood on Sunday night.

Investigations continued on Monday into the cause of the accident at 6.40pm, which saw a four-wheel drive driven by the Brisbane man collide with a B-double carrying highly-volatile fertiliser.

Emergency crews were unable to access the wreckage immediately due to the intensity of the flames and fear of the urea exploding.

The truckie, a 62-year-old man from Melbourne, managed to jump free from the burning cabin.

He was recovering in hospital from burns to his face, arms and leg yesterday, along with his passenger.

Aerial pictures taken by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter team were released yesterday.
