Man wasn't stung by irukandji jellyfish near island
A MACKAY Base Hospital spokesperson said the man admitted for a marine sting last night has been released from hospital, as it was not believed to be an irukanji sting.
He suffered a marine sting of some description but it was unclear what it was.
The 21-year-old English tourist was discharged from hospital at 10am this morning and was returning north.
AN English tourist that was staying on Hayman Island is believed to have been stung by an Irukandji.
At 8:55am last night, RACQ CQ Rescue departed for Hayman Island to airlift the 21-year-old male to the Mackay Base Hospital.
The man had suffered a marine sting, suspected to be an Irukandji.
He was in a stable condition and underwent investigation and treatment for the sting on his arrival at hospital.
