Police catch Gladstone man after get away fails

A MAN seen leaving the scene of a crime in the early hours of this morning was found by police after his getting away plan failed.

Police were called to a break and enter at 4.30am this morning in Toolooa, where a man had been seen fleeing on a motorcycle.

Patrols searched the area and spotted a man fitting the description at the corner of Emperor and Whiting St, along with his motorcycle which had stalled.

The 31-year-old Gladstone man had property, including mobile phones, believed to have been stolen.

He is yet to be charged, but is "assisting police with investigations" and is in police custody.

Gladstone police confirmed there was no reason to suspect any links to outlawed motorcycle gangs.
