Man charged with attempted murder over bedroom bashing

A TOOWOOMBA man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly bashing a man while he slept in his Gympie home.  

A 59-year-old man from Green Creek, Gympie reported on Monday morning that he had been hit on the head with a blunt implement while he was sleeping at home.

Robert John Milne, age 58 from Wilsonton Heights in Toowoomba was later found on the Sunshine Coast.

He has been charged with attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and enter a dwelling with intent.

Mr Milne will appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning. 

"I congratulate Gympie detectives for their work and thank Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast detectives for their assistance," Detective Acting Inspector David Briese of Wide Bay Burnett District said.
