
Man charged over stabbing
A MAN has been charged after a physical fight allegedly spiralled out of control, resulting in stab wounds to another man's stomach.
It is understood the two men lived opposite each other in a unit complex, with a 51-year-old and a 54-year-old allegedly getting into a fight around 1.30pm at their Gold Coast Highway property.
Police will allege that the physical fight escalated and a 51-year-old man grabbed a knife and stabbed a 54-year-old man in the abdomen.
The wounded man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with a deep laceration.
The injury is not believed to be life threatening.
The 51-year-old was arrested on scene and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today charged with one count of intending to maim, disfigure or disable.
Meanwhile, a woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital after a near-drowning incident.
The woman, aged in her 20s, is believed to have been swimming in a backyard pool at a private Surfers Paradise property when paramedics were called just before 7pm.
She was transported to hospital with a critical care paramedic in a stable condition.
Earlier, a man was taken to hospital in a stable condition with a foot injury after crashing a motorbike in Burleigh Waters.
The motorbike collided with a car on Dunlin Dr around 6am.
