Postal worker charged for stealing letters

POLICE have charged a 33-year-old man with stealing offences after investigations into the alleged theft of postal items in the Toowoomba area.

Officers executed a search warrant at a Highfields residence on Monday where a number of parcels and letters dated from November 2011 to 2013 inclusive were seized.

He works at the Toowoomba Mail Centre.

The Highfields man has been charged with one count each of theft of postal articles and obstructing carriage of postal articles.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on July 8.

The stolen mail will be returned to its owners.
