Man and woman die in double stabbing

Family members of the man accused of stabbing his former partner multiple times before he died of his own injuries witnessed some of the events inside a home at Bidwill this afternoon, according to police.

Ruth Mafaata, 22, died during emergency surgery after attending the home of boyfriend Jachai Leota Fuimaono, also aged 22, on Tongariro Terrace, in Sydney's west, about 12.45pm.

It is understood the meeting was an attempt to resolve issues after the four-year relationship ended.

Mr Leota Fuimaono was found dead inside a house with stab wounds to his chest while Ms Mafaata suffered wounds to her stomach. She was rushed to Westmead Hospital for surgery but died a short time later.

Police believe Mr Leota Fuimaono's parents were inside the home during the incident.

Family had been gathered at the scene for hours after the incident, hugging and embracing each other.

"It's hard (for the families) to deal with they are both 22 and you never expect your kids to die," Mount Druitt Chief Inspector Paul Tickner said.

NSW Police confirmed the stabbing was domestic related and are investigating how the horrific incident unfolded.
