Man extradited from Downs for exposing himself to teenager

A MAN is set to appear in a New South Wales court today after being extradited from Queensland on an outstanding warrant relating to an alleged sexual act on a train in November last year.

A New South Wales Police Force spokesperson said officers from the North West Transport Action Group commenced an investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred on a train near Westmead in November.

"Police will allege in court that a man on board the train allegedly exposed himself in front of a 15-year-old girl and committed a sexual act on November 14," the spokesperson said.

"The girl and a witness reported the incident to train staff who reported it to police.

"Following extensive inquiries, it was established the man was living interstate and assistance was sought from Queensland Police Service."

The spokesperson said a 71-year-old man was arrested by officers from Queensland Polices' Criminal Investigation Branch in Warwick on Monday, January 6.

"Investigators applied for and were granted the man's extradition to NSW at the Toowoomba Magistrate's Court on Tuesday," they said.

"The man was escorted by NSW Police officers to Mascot Police Station yesterday (Wednesday 8 January 2020), where he was charged with intentionally do sexual act with child between 10 and 16, two counts of contravene prohibition order and wilful and obscene exposure in/near public place/school.

"He was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today."
