Man in hospital after being mugged by six men

A 30-YEAR-OLD man is in hospital with facial injuries after being set upon by up to six men who stole his wallet and mobile phone.

The man told police he was walking along the riverside bikeway, near Elizabeth Street in Brisbane, at 11pm on Saturday when he was struck in the head from behind.

He was further assaulted by three to six men.

The men are described as being Aboriginal or Pacific Islander in appearance and aged in their 20s.

The 30-year-old was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment.
