Motorist struck by falling street light in crash at Ripley

A MAN in his 60s is being treated for serious injuries following a crash at Ripley this afternoon.

Police say two vehicles were involved in the accident at the roundabout intersection of the Centenary Hwy and Ripley Rd.

A street light was sheared off by a car that lost control in the roundabout, smashing though the windscreen of a following vehicle and striking the driver.

Queensland Ambulance Service says paramedics are treating a man for injuries to his chest and head.

He has been taken to the PA Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have asked motorists to avoid the Brisbane-bound lanes of the Centenary Hwy from Deebing Heights to Springfield as lanes remain closed after the crash.
