UPDATE 6.20pm: A man has been airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious leg injuries and cuts to his head after two trucks collided on Freestone Rd.

Queensland Ambulance Services report the man was in a stable condition.

Freestone Rd has now been reopened near Palmer Bridge after being closed to traffic while emergency services worked for more than an hour to free the man from his truck.

Sections were tarnished with skid marks and debris as the trucks came to rest on either side of the bridge. 

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said crews used hydraulic equipment and stabilised the roof of the truck to free the injured man.

He was released from the vehicle just after 5.15pm.

Emergency services were initially called to the scene of the crash at 3.37pm.

The man was the only person who required medical treatment at the scene.

UPDATE 5.30pm: A man has been freed from his truck after it collided with another truck on Freestone Rd this afternoon.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said crews used hydraulic equipment and then stabilised the roof of the truck to free the man.

He was released from the truck just after 5.15pm.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Ambulance Services said paramedics were preparing to airlift the man to hospital.

It was unknown at that stage which hospital he would be transported to.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 3.40pm today.

Lanes in both directions remain closed on Freestone Rd and drivers have been told to expect delays.


INITIAL 4.30pm: A helicopter has landed at the scene of a serious crash on Freestone Rd where a man remains trapped inside a truck.

Two trucks collided on the road between 3.30pm and 4pm today.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Ambulance Services said the man had suffered significant leg injuries as well as cuts and abrasions to his head.

He is in a stable condition.

The spokeswoman said the man was the only patient receiving medical treatment.

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews also responded to the scene.

A QFES spokeswoman said firefighters were currently using hydraulic equipment to free the man from the truck.

Freestone Rd has been closed in both directions and is expected to remain shut for about two hours.

Yangan Police Senior Constable Nathan Burnett said the cause of the crash was unknown at that stage.
