Man shot, officer in hospital after shooting

A MAN has been shot by police in Surfers Paradise this morning.

Police say they were responding to a building alarm on the corner of Cyprus Avenue and Ferny Avenue around 1:30am.

The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

A female constable is in a stable condition at the same hospital.

It is not known if she is being treated for injuries or shock.

The Ethical Standards Command will oversee the investigation into the incident.
