Man charged with Facebook threat to Newman and family

A CABOOLTURE man will face court after allegedly threatening to kill Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and his family.

A police spokesman said the 26-year-old sent out death threats towards Mr Newman, his wife Lisa and his daughters on the Premier's Facebook page last Wednesday.

As reported by Channel 7 it's believed the post, which came from a fake account, detailed plans to slit the throats of the Premier and his wife.

On Friday police searched the man's home at Caboolture.

He was arrested and charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

Police have not confirmed why the man was angry or whether his intentions were real.

The man is due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court on February 6.

The man could face up to three years imprisonment.
