Manhunt ends in Gympie as bushwalkers find body

THE Gympie man who sparked a two-week manhunt has been found dead in secluded forest.

Police confirmed yesterday morning that the body of Colin Munn, 43, had been found, along with his blue Mitsubishi Pajero wagon, by members of the public.

It is understood a party of recreational forest users found Mr Munn late on Monday.

A police spokesman said it appeared Mr Munn had died soon after the home invasion, on September 21.

Reports at the time said an armed man had broken into the home and attacked a man and a woman who were inside.

The 27-year-old male victim suffered multiple head injuries, as did the 37-year-old woman who also suffered up to 10 or 12 stab wounds to the torso.

They were taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police have confirmed that the male victim, Kyle Beaumont, has been discharged from hospital.

The woman, Rosemarie Fuentes, was continuing her recovery in Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, they said.
