Man's chest punctured by metal

A MAN was breaking up metal on the Barwon Highway this afternoon when a piece flew off and punctured his chest.

An ambulance crew were called to the scene at Goondiwindi about 12.18pm this afternoon.

A spokesman from Queensland Ambulance Services said the man was transported in a stable condition to Goondiwindi Hospital.

He was later transferred via LifeFlight to Toowoomba Hospital about 3.45pm.

The spokesman said the age of the man was unknown.
