UPDATE: A MAN has been taken to hospital after he allegedly made threats involving a gas bottle at a resort in Marcoola this afternoon. 

Police declared an an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act at around 1pm but it has now been revoked.

Earlier, the Marcoola Beach Resort apartment was evacuated and a 400 metre exclusion zone was put in place.

A short time later the matter was resolved without incident and the man was taken to the Nambour Hospital.  

No one was injured as a result.   

Police investigations are continuing.  

 

2.28 PM: POLICE have declared an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act at Marcoola.  

The declaration was made around 1pm after a man made threats involving a gas bottle at a resort on David Low Way. 

The resort has been evacuated and police are negotiating with a man who is currently by himself inside a unit.  

There is a 400m exclusion zone around the resort and police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.  

Police negotiators are on the scene.  

EARLIER: A MARCOOLA unit complex has been evacuated after a man allegedly threatened to blow up the building using a gas bottle.

A police media spokesman told the Daily emergency crews were called to Marcoola Beach Resort apartments on David Low Way at about 12.15pm with reports 

He said once the gas leak risk was identified police ordered an evacuation of the complex.

Residents are standing in the far reaches of the block, as a 200-metre exclusion zone was mapped out. 

Rain clouds hover overhead as the wait nears one hour. 

The entrance to the complex was seen lined up with cars as residents were unable to return to their homes.

Police negotiators are working to calm down the man who is believed to be inside the complex making the threats.
