Mardi Gras moves and grooves in Warwick's main street

RODEO festivities will spill into the Warwick CBD tonight with the annual Mardi Gras celebrations.

Palmerin St comes alive with rodeo-goers for a night of revelry, music and roving performances.

The Brisbane-based Memphis Movers will bring their swinging tunes of Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin and many more to the party.

Local clubs will be running food stalls with plenty of tasty treats.

In fitting with the carnival atmosphere there will be amusement rides, showbags and prizes to be won in the sideshow alley.

This year the street festivities will again include Grafton St

Road closures in Grafton and Palmerin St kick in from 2pm today with the festivities to kick off from 5.30pm.

Destination Southern Downs Implementation Project Manager Tracey Dobie praised the work of organisers preparing for the event.

"I want to pass on a big thank you to everyone involved in organising the Mardi Gras festival," she said.

"I wish all the organisers, vendors and store owners a good night for what is sure to be a fun night for the community and families."

The Mardi Gras celebrations kick off from 5.30pm tonight and will run until 9pm.
