Marijuana stash kept in Milo tins

MILO tins and large glass jars were used to hide nearly $250,000 worth of cannabis which was found and seized during police raids yesterday.

Acting from information given to them, Warwick police officers and the Criminal Investigation Branch performed a search warrant at a Warwick address early yesterday morning.

Inside the home they found about 1.5kg of dried cannabis, as well as numerous drug-related utensils.

Two people were charged – an 18-year-old Warwick male for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of utensils, and a 16-year-old Warwick male, who was drug diverted for possessing utensils and for possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

That search led them to another address at Thane, where they found about 9.5kg of cannabis stashed under furniture, most of which was under a bed.

The drugs were found dried and packaged.

A 56-year-old Thane woman was charged with possession of a dangerous drug.

Warwick police Criminal Investigation Branch detective Senior Constable Glen Roche said the drug bust had been one of the larger ones this year.

“We would appreciate any information from the public in relation to drug-related matters,” he said.

Anyone with information on drug-related activity, or any suspicious goings-on, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800333000 or Warwick police on 46604444.
