Maritime centre launches new website
THE Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre this week launches a new website and has also initiated a national marketing campaign with redesigned ads and imagery to improve information access and public awareness regarding the centre and the maritime training courses on offer.
Based at the Whitsunday Sailing Club in Airlie Beach, the Maritime Training Centre offers extensive training courses from recreational boat licences right through to MED 2, Med 3 and Master 5 commercial qualifications.
Training Co-ordinator Kaye Williams said: “There are over fifteen courses available for the general public, recreational sailing or students interested in improving their maritime career opportunities.
"The Certificate of Sea Safety is especially popular as it is an essential requirement for anyone working in commercial shipping – whether you are a chef, engineer or coxswain.
"People come from all over Australia to enrol in our courses and the launching of the website is a further exciting step in the development of the training business.”
The website was written and designed by the WMTC staff in collaboration with Telltale Communications and web designer Jade Korosec of Slinkylinks.
Jade said: “There were three major factors that drove the development of the Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre website. These were ease of navigation; ability to communicate to those already in the marine industry looking to advance their career as well as those who were just getting started in the field; and lastly to visually showcase that the Whitsundays and in particular the Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre is the ideal location to obtain marine education.”
The website was developed using a content management system which enables the training centre to update their own online information and ensure that course material and training dates are current.
"The website is compliant across a range of mobile devices and internet browsers and boasts social media functionality allowing visitors to easily share the sites content," Jade said.
The WMTC was established in 1994 and has grown from offering dinghy training and learn to sail classes to a full-time educational facility with qualified trainers, three training areas, excellent equipment and a simulator. Based at the Whitsunday Sailing Club, the centre provides the perfect environment for students and easy access to water-based training.
