Markets beat all the hopes yesterday

GLENGALLAN Homestead Trust chair Donna Fraser rated the quarterly markets yesterday as one of the best days on record.

"It is the first time the markets have coincided with a long weekend," she said.

"The weather was perfect."

Board member and markets co-ordinator Terry Weier said there were 22 stalls.

"We gauge the crowd by the number of cars in the carpark and there were definitely more than normal," he said.

Will Drennert and wife Christine had a stall at Glengallan for the first time and vowed to return.

"I was impressed with the crowd, there were a few travellers at the markets including visitors from Yass in New South Wales," he said.

There were plenty of animals represented in the cut outs in their stall.

"Christine does the cutting and I put it all together," he said.

Chinchilla visitor Mary Bennett was at Glengallan for the first time.

"I have always wanted to look inside the homestead and am doing that today," she said.

Before having a look, she had lunch at the cafe.

"I really love to look out and see the views of the Darling Downs," she said.

Shane and Jeanette Kister from Capella in Central Queensland were at the markets after heading from Toowoomba to Warwick for a look at the town and seeing the markets sign.

"We came down to buy a Murrey Grey bull at Oakey," Mrs Kister said.
