Masked Assassin stud service prize
THOROUGHBRED horse breeders have the chance to secure a service for a mare, from esteemed racehorse Masked Assassin, with proceeds to the Warwick Turf Club.
The service fee will go under the hammer during the prelude to this year's Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup, the MyOptical Cup Calcutta to be held next Friday.
Local stud, Canning Downs, has joined forces with Burwood Stud in Pittsworth to donate the service fee - worth more than $4000.
The stunning stallion has racked up an impressive race history, having won or placed in all its starts as a two-year-old.
Canning Downs manager Rob Petith said although this has been a tough season for a lot people, the auction provided the chance for breeders to snap up a stud service with a quality race horse.
"It is a difficult time economically and we are trying to accommodate breeders by offering this service fee for this well-credentialed racehorse," he said.
Warwick Turf Club committee member Peter Fraser expects bidding to be fierce and urges the large number of local thoroughbred breeders to be there to support the club.
"This donation is extremely generous of John, Joy and Robert of Canning Downs and it's wonderful to have an iconic thoroughbred stud such as Canning Downs involved," he said.
Everyone is welcome and entry is free.
