Masseur lining up for second World Cup in polocrosse
POLOCROSSE: Peter Wornes may have worked with some of the world's best cricketers but for the next two weeks, his massages will be keenly sought by members of the Australian World Cup polocrosse team.
With South Africa and Australia each winning two world cups, this year's event promises to be the closest so far.
A long-time resident of Holbrook in southern New South Wales, Wornes is a close friend of the Grills family and has been involved with the Albury/Holbrook club since siblings and World Cup players, Lucy and Jimmy, started in the sport.
"I am interested in muscles and massage the players,” he said.
Wornes is also the team trainer.
"I like the people and the sport of polocrosse,” he said.
Wornes has also trained the Holbrook Brookers AFL team.
He has worked with an Australian masters cricket team, which included many of the big names in the sport, including retired Victorian paceman Merv Hughes and New South Wales all rounder Greg Matthews.
