Matt Campbell gets his first chance in a V8 Supercar after starring in a Porsche

MOTORSPORT: Promising Warwick motor racing driver Matt Campbell will join Nissan Motorsport for the V8 Supercar endurance races this year.

In a press statement yesterday, Nissan Motorsport said Campbell would drive alongside Todd Kelly in the #7 carsales Racing Altima.

Campbell was officially welcomed into the team at a test at Winton Raceway, north of Melbourne, today.

Nissan said in its statement that Campbell first demonstrated his potential during the pre-season test in February.

The 21-year-old currently sits second in the Porsche Carrera Cup after winning the final two rounds at Bathurst and Gold Coast last year.

His first drive alongside Kelly will be in September’s Sandown 500.

The Warwick driver flew to Melbourne on Monday and will return tomorrow to his hometown where he works as a builder in between motor racing commitments.
