Matt testing skills in Porsche vehicles on ice in Finland
MOTORSPORT: Matt Campbell is in Levi, Finland, to drive for the first time on snow.
Before heading to Europe, the young Warwick motor racing driver said he was looking forward to a new experience.
He will be testing his skill as a driver on ice in different Porsche vehicles.
This is his second trip to Europe in the past two months after flying to Germany in December for the Porsche Night of Champions.
Campbell earnt the trip to the champion's night for his top-three finish in the Porsche Carrera Cup last season and received a trophy on the night.
The Warwick driver will be home on Friday morning and then have a few days at home before heading to Bathurst to prepare for the annual 12-hour race on February 5-7.
He will be in a McElrea Racing-prepared McLaren 650S in a team of four at Bathurst.
Campbell will be joined by car owner Tony Walls from Sydney, regular McElrea driver Warren Luff and V8 driver Tim Slade in the McLaren.
Each team has to have a minimum of three drivers for the race over 12 hours.
Walls and his team have nominated four drivers and under the rules all four must drive.
There are 24 combinations in Class A GT 3 including David Russell who finished one spot ahead of Campbell in the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup overall standings.
Some international drivers will be in Bathurst for the premier endurance event in Australia this year.
One of the highest profile drivers competing against Campbell and his team will be three-times Bathurst winner Garth Tander.
