MOTOR RACING: Warwick driver Matt Campbell has finished seventh in round 5 of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup on the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom.

It was his first meeting at Silverstone as he continues to race on more of the iconic raceways in the world.

Norway driver Dennis Olsen, 21, was fastest qualifier and won the race from Michael Ammermuller and Dylan Pereira.

Campbell was seventh following on from one win, one third and two fifths in this year's series so far.

He also has a win in the Porsche Carrera Cup on the Red Bull Ring in Austria to his credit, the same raceway where he won the Supercup round.

He is part of the Fach Auto Tech team after winning a sponsored Porsche junior scholarship to compete in the Supercup this year.

The weekend Supercup race was on the same program as Formula 1.

Campbell will be part of the main event when he returns to Australia to compete along with Shane van Gisbergen in the three enduro races as part of the V8 Supercars at Sandown, Bathurst and Gold Coast in September and October.
