Mayor set to put boot into fine art

MAYOR Peter Blundell has been given the boot ... well the boots that is, as part of the Freestone Hall Boot sale.

Cr Blundell will be one of the many local characters and artists who will decorate and then ultimately auction their catwalk ready pair as part of the fundraising event.

"I want to paint one boot as the time of drought and the other as the time of plenty," the Mayor said yesterday.

"I did art at school and I loved it but since then it has fizzled so I'm not too sure how the boots will turn out."

The quirky art auction which features boots painted by APN political cartoonist Paul Zanetti, Publisher's Cup Cricket Art Prize finalist David Woodford,

local member Lawrence Springborg and many more will run in conjunction with a traditional car boot sale.

The day will also include a gum boot toss, jazz music, all-day breakfast, tea, coffee and homemade yummies.

When: Sunday July 20, 9am-till late.

Bar opens at 1pm.
