McClutchie convicted of murdering Noelene Beutel

A SUNSHINE Coast man, who dumped his partner in the boot of her car and then set it alight, has been convicted of murdering her at their Buderim home.

Wayn Edward Raymond McClutchie, 38, had already pleaded guilty to interfering with the corpse of Noelene Beutel, 35, on June 29, 2011.

But he had pleaded not guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court to murder because he claimed he did not intend to kill her when he delivered a 10/10 punch during a violent confrontation.

Ms Beutel had left McClutchie two days before she died with plans to return to family at Toowoomba.

She had told friends McClutchie had threatened to kill her and her daughter in the lead up to her death.

Justice Ann Lyons was expected to sentence him to life in jail, the mandatory sentence for murder, immediately but a procedural glitch resulted in the case being adjourned until Wednesday morning.

She asked the jury be recalled to confirm the guilty verdict was unanimous because a question confirming that was not asked.
