McDaniel set for high-stakes hoops

WARWICK Wildcats basketball coach Michael McDaniel will play in the $250,000 Foot Locker Elite Classic High Stakes Hoops Series on April 6-11 in Adelaide.

McDaniel won an inter-collegiate premiership in Hawaii and trialled for National Basketball Association team the Dallas Mavericks during his career in the United States before moving to Australia.

There will be plenty of players with National Basketball League experience in the series, including former Australian women’s coach Brett Maher, who is coach of the Fleet team.

Each of the eight teams in the inaugural series is allowed three international players.

McDaniel will play for the Pythons, coached by Olympian Mark Bradtke, at the Adelaide Dome. He is delighted to be part of the first series which promises some of the best basketball to be played in Australia.

The series will be televised on One HD.
