McNab wins three-star event

KEVIN McNab has won the Eventing Queensland three-star CIC international at Morgan Park at the weekend.

Eventing Queensland secretary Arianne Hall said the event was held as a forerunner to a three-star CCI international event scheduled for next year – the first in Queensland for more than a decade.

She said it was imperative for Queensland to again have an international-standard three-star event so the state did not continue to lose its best riders to the southern states.

Hall said at this stage it was not clear which organisation would run the event; however she said the committee which ran the one at the weekend was happy to become a sub-committee of either Eventing Queensland, Equestrian Queensland or the Warwick Horse Trials Club to run the competition.

“Warwick is the only course in Queensland that has the room available,” she said.

“We want to see this happen again and with the support of our sponsors and riders and the positive feedback from this weekend we’re hopeful that we can run it again.”

There were 232 competitors in the competition.

In the three-star, second place was won by Eleanor Osborne from Allora. Emma Dougall took out the two-star.
