Meet your council candidates
THE State Election may be first in line, but the Daily News isn't going to let that cast a shadow over the upcoming local election.
Candidates' names for the Southern Downs Regional Council 2012 election are popping up on a daily if not hourly basis and it's starting to look like a Melbourne Cup field of would-be leaders.
With nominations open until Tuesday, March 27, we still don't even have a full list and rumours continue to fly that some of those declaring to run as councillors could still step up for the top job.
Once the dust is settled next week, but before the postal ballots arrive in letterboxes, the Warwick Daily News, in conjunction with the Warwick Chamber of Commerce, will host the 2012 Southern Downs Regional Council Meet the Candidates forum.
On Thursday, March 29, from 6.30pm for a 7pm start at the Kings Theatre, Warwick RSL, we are inviting all candidates to attend and answer questions from the public.
Readers' questions will be collected before the event and can be submitted to jenna.cairney@warwickdailynews.com.au, by phoning 46601318 or by dropping them into the office at 50 Albion St.
If you are a candidate please get in touch to confirm your place at the forum by phoning 46601318.
The Stanthorpe leg of the event, held in partnership with the Stanthorpe Chamber of Commerce and Border Post, will be held at the Civic Centre on Wednesday, March 28, at 6.30pm.
