MEGHAN Markle is "at her wits' end" over her father's comments in the press and is turning to Kate Middleton for support.

Vanity Fair's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl reports that the duchesses are having weekly calls with Kate "making a big effort to be kind to Meghan and look out for her".

"Kate's made a real effort to be kind to Meghan and to include her. They're quite different characters but they get along well," an insider said.

The pair, both 36, have reportedly bonded over their love of dogs, tennis and the great outdoors. Kate has also put Meghan in touch with British designer Emilia Wickstead, who she regularly uses for big events.

"Kate's been very sympathetic to what's been going on with Meghan and her dad," the source said.

It comes as Meghan has been accused of "cutting off" her father, Thomas Markle, 74, who told the Mail on Sunday that he has not spoken to his daughter, who he calls his "beloved Bean", for more than 10 weeks.

"I'm really hurt that she's cut me off completely. I used to have a phone number and text number for her personal aides at the Palace, but after I said a few critical words about the Royal Family changing Meghan, they cut me off," he said. "Those numbers were disconnected, they no longer work. I have no way of contacting my daughter."

"It's her birthday on August 4 and I want to send her a card. But if I send a birthday card to Kensington Palace, or wherever she's living now, it'll just be one among thousands. She'll probably never see it," he said.

Mr Markle, who was a last-minute no-show to the Royal wedding after allegedly having heart surgery, went on to say he is scared he may never meet any children Meghan and Harry may have, and that he Meghan may be better off if he were to die.

He also said reports that he faked a heart attack and that he was an alcoholic are false.

Mr Markle also revealed that he offered to make an apology for staged paparazzi photos but they said it wasn't necessary but then an aide called to say the family had been offended and offered to help draft an apology statement.
