Members of the public alert police

ONE 17-year-old man and three juveniles were caught after members of the public quickly alerted police after spotting rocks being thrown on the roadway in Grafton St, outside Repco.

Sergeant Gary Beling said he appreciated the quick calls from the public about the incident at 4.30pm yesterday.

"Four police went to the scene and apprehended the three juveniles," Sgt Beling said.

"A member of the public then followed the 17 year old who split from the group and was able to direct us to him by phone."

The four were charged with wilful damage and putting dangerous matter on a road.
