Men accused of street fight murder won't give evidence

THE young men accused of murdering two friends in an Ipswich street fight have chosen not to give evidence in their trial.

Zachary Michael Moloney and Luke Michael Jackson are on trial in Brisbane Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to murder.

The men, both from Ipswich, are accused of being responsible for Brandon Matthews's and Brad Girling's stabbing deaths in January, 2012.

The jury has heard the four men were in a fight on Hill St in North Ipswich when Mr Matthews, 18, and Mr Girling, 22, sustained fatal stab wounds.

The jury heard the last piece of evidence in the murder trial and were told on Friday closing submissions would start next week.

Both defence counsel for Mr Jackson and Mr Moloney confirmed their clients would neither give nor call any evidence.

The trial will resume on Monday.
