Menari talented, but beatable, in tomorrow's Golden Rose
HORSE RACING: I can't recall a Saturday of racing as thrilling as the one we witnessed six days ago.
Winx was superb again in defeating a game Happy Clapper, Almandin proved he was well on the way to the Melbourne Cup after toying with his rivals at Flemington, and Redzel rocketed into Everest contention in the Shorts.
Connections of Winx announced during the week that she will have her first career start at Flemington in the Turnbull Stakes.
If this week is half as good, we're in for another cracker.
The Golden Rose Stakes headlines the card at Rosehill, and although he's been ultra-impressive this campaign, Menari is at rock-bottom odds of $2.
Pariah is a definite chance who will enjoy the rise in trip to 1400 metres, and Merchant Navy will be fresh at a distance he loves.
I'm more tempted to lean to the latter at each-way odds as opposed to the shorts for Menari.
CHARITY BET OF THE WEEK
Miss Exfactor (Ipswich Race 2 No 5) into Brave Smash (Caulfield Race 6 No 3) - $50 multi at $3.24
Miss Exfactor looks to get in well with the weights, and could be one on the rise.
She's first up in her second campaign, having run second to Houtzen on debut, before scoring nicely at the Gold Coast.
Brave Smash has been announced as an Everest starter, and should continue his winning ways.
He draws well in six, and should sit on the speed.
UBET'S BEST BETS
Last week the boys produced winners at $26 and $4 if you don't mind!
BEST: Rosehill Race 5 No.9 Dawn Wall @ $3.20
Flashed home to just miss behind Washington Heights last start and, with the step up in distance, can turn the tables here.
NEXT: Caulfield Race 2. No.1 Eshtiraak @ $3.20
Looks a few levels above these. Sunquest the danger, but doubt Eshtiraak misses a place.
VALUE: Caulfield Race 7 No.2 Tally @ $12
His two runs back this time have been meritorious. Steps out to a more suitable distance here and can run into the money. Each way all day!
