Cold, dry weather set to continue in Warwick

FARMERS won't have much to look forward to as cold and dry conditions persist for the Southern Downs this week.

Temperatures will rise slightly today and tomorrow following the recent cold snap.

Warwick had it's coldest August day since 2008 on Friday when it dipped to -4.6 overnight.

Conditions remain icy for the Rose City this morning with possible fog and frosts.

Skies will stay mostly sunny over the Darling Downs, although a decent trough will bring the chance of showers over eastern parts of the district on Wednesday.

Families in Brisbane for the Ekka may even see a storm gather.

Above-average temperatures are expected ahead of the trough as it moves off the east coast, with daytime temperatures set to peak in the low 20s.

Overnight temperatures will again dip down to 1 or 2 degrees by Thursday as a cool air mass follows the trough moving inland.

Finer conditions will return for the weekend, but south-westerly winds are expected to pick up on Wednesday and Thursday.
