Storms fail to show for the moment

STORMS predicted for earlier in the week failed to eventuate, leaving the Rose City fine and sunny until the weekend.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Ilona Coote said temperatures would continue to rise between today and Friday.

"You are looking at a maximum of 24 (today) and a minimum of six. Thursday will have a max of 25 and min of five, and Friday will have a max of 27 and minimum of seven," Ms Coote said.

She said temperatures would start to cool off for the weekend.

"Saturday is looking like it will have a trough move through. That will bring some light showers and cooler temps to follow with the possibility of a thunderstorm," Ms Coote said.

She said Warwick had been warmer and dryer than average.

"It will be a few degrees above the average over the next few days," she said.

"September has an average of 32.7mm (of rain) and so far there has been 11mm."
