Millard clocks up 100 games
Another huge win is needed for the Redbacks to stitch up a place in the 2010 final series.
Travelling to Gatton to play Lockyer Valley today will be the least of the worries for the players. Whether they can win by the required margin will be the problem.
Coach Peter Millard and the selectors are looking at last week's squad that totally demolished Dalby and the possibility of two players returning from injury.
The main players missing will be Nick Donges, Jason Hoole, Rob Devereux, Josh Andrews, Coen Slatter and Kerin Politch. Returning to the fray will be Stewart Day and Jake Peasnell, both to face fitness tests.
With Alex Cutmore in outstanding form and the defensive six winning and controlling the ball with relative ease and the mid-field in scintillating form, all that is needed is for one forward to stand up and go on a goal kicking spree similar to that of Jason Wright's (12) performance last week.
Co-vice captain Kurt 'Kooka' Millard will play his 100th game for the club today and, as per usual, will put every ounce of skill and energy into his game. Kurt has missed only one game due to work commitments on his way to the century.
Kooka is in the running for the coveted double that Iles took out last year and that is both the AFL DD fairest and best Holman Medal and the Stephen Gray club best and fairest.
Congratulations from the entire club Kooka, well done.
The mighty 8s and 10s will be on show at Slade Park from 8.30 am, while the U12s will travel to Gatton with the seniors. – Colin Pope
