Minor flooding hits the Rose City

The Park Rd bridge near the skatebowl has been closed as the river continues to rise after heavy rain over the past 24 hours.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted minor flooding will be experienced in Warwick overnight, as floodwaters move downstream from Killarney.

Sergeant Shane Reid confirmed local disaster management personnel were expecting flooding tonight.

Although major bridges have not been affected, Sgt Reid did warn that lower areas were likely to flood.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded the Condamine River level as 1.63 metres and rising at Scots College at 5pm this afternoon, with a flood class of below minor.

Local disaster management believes a minor to moderate flood level of more than three metres is likely to occur in Warwick overnight, but will likely decrease fairly quickly and subside by mid-morning tomorrow.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have urged people to stay clear of flood waters as widespread flooding has occurred across the south-east of the state.
