Missing ring resurfaces 20 years after it was found
IT MIGHT not be as epic as Lord of the Rings, but the Tannymorel Bowls Club is embarking on a quest to find the owner of a missing ring.
The nine-carat gold ring was found on the green 20 years ago.
But in a bizarre twist it's only surfaced this week .
When bowls club secretary Diane Walsh opened an envelope addressed to the club, the last thing she expected to find was a ring.
The piece was accompanied by a note saying, "Ring was found on green 20 yrs ago please find owner'.
Mrs Walsh said she was blown away by the ring and the note.
"I spoke to Myrtle Wagner (long time club member) about whether anyone had called up distraught about losing a ring and she couldn't recall anything," she said.
"I went to the police in Killarney and they had no reports of it on their lost property list."
The lack of information makes the members of the Tannymorel Bowls Club suspect the ring could have belonged to someone from a visiting club.
"I'm not going to speculate on how and why it's been returned to us," Mrs Walsh said. "I just want to find the owner."
