Mixed days for Rats women against national rep player
RUGBY UNION: One player who has represented Australia was in Warwick playing for the Bears against the Warwick Water Rats women in sevens rugby.
The women's games were the first fixture games for a Warwick team in rugby union history. The Water Rats played UQ Gatton in trial games earlier in the season.
2016 Youth Olympics gold medallist Shenae Ciesiolka played for a Bears team which also had a Queensland Reds development player in their seven but Warwick coach Lauren Quinlan was upbeat about the efforts of her team.
"We conceded five tries against Bears to go down and then in our second game scoring five tries to one to beat UQ Gatton,” Quinlan said.
The coach rated Lisa Croft and Tshinta Kendall as her best.
"We had 12 girls on the day and it was great to see how Sam Burton came from polocrosse to play in a second game where she did some awesome tackles,” Quinlan said.
Warwick had its first win of the season in men's B grade beating Bears 20-3 while Bears beat UQ Gatton in A grade. Bears forfeited C grade to UQ Gatton.
Jared Fearby was best in B grade for Warwick with Jacob Wilton and Zac Sheerdan also impressing.
