Mixed junior netball to start for all at Scots PGC on Friday

NETBALL: Give It A Go (GIG) mixed netball will be played at the Wilf Arthur Learning Enrichment Centre (WALEC) courts at Scots PGC College this term to cater for boys and girls aged six to 12.

Scots PGC director of co-curricular activities Russell Craymer said the GIG netball program was started last year.

"The GIG program is designed to encourage more sports participation across Warwick,” he said.

"We have mixed netball in first term then rugby in term 2, hockey in term 3 and touch in the last term.”

In a change from last year, all four sports will be played on Friday afternoons.

Craymer said the change was to avoid any clashes with weekend sports.

"We are working in with town associations as we run the GIG program and hope to introduce new players to each sport,” he said.

The muster for mixed netball will be on Friday at 3.30pm at the WALEC courts which are on East St opposite the Scots PGC Junior School.

There are two undercover netball courts at WALEC.

The program will start with drills and skills development before players will be split into teams to play modified games of netball.

Players will participate in drills on Friday after signing on. Girls and boys from six to 12 years of age are welcome to join up.

Cost is $35 per player for the term 1 Friday afternoon competition which covers the cost of insurance.

Players unable to sign up this Friday can email sport@scotspgc.com.au for the online link.
