Mixed thoughts on next coach after shock move by Ange
SPORTSVIEW with Gerard Walsh
THE decision of Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou to move on is a tough one for the sport, especially with the World Cup around the corner.
I don't claim to be a football expert, but if I was on the board of Football Australia, I would be looking seriously at past Socceroos player Graham Arnold.
Postecoglou has proved there are coaches in Australia that can guide us to successes, like an Asian Cup victory.
I spoke to a few football people and Wolves striker Sam McLennan has a simple answer - we want the best coach regardless of where he is from.
Warwick Wolves president Karen Welsh said it would be great to get an Australian, but her guess was the coach would come from overseas.
She feels the majority of the current team worked well with Postecoglou.
Premier junior team coach Peter Darton wants a coach who will come up with a style of play to suit our opposition.
"You don't play a passing only game against Brazil, but more the Italian style of defend and break,” he said.
