Mixed weekend with the weather for Warwick sport

FORTY EIGHT HOURS IN FORTY EIGHT LINES WITH GERARD WALSH

THE rain in Warwick stayed away for one weekend and then returned to wash out T20 club cricket and the Allora Cup Race Meeting at Allman Park on Saturday.

It wasn't general rain but enough to wash out a bit of sport. The Wattles Rodeo at Allora went ahead; it takes a lot to stop those bull riders and the once-in-a-year cowboys who have a go at some of the more novelty events.

Not sure if I should use the novelty word as it doesn't quite fit landing in the dirt for the sake of a few seconds of fun. But if no one had a go, there would be no rodeo, so well done to the participants and organisers.

There was weekend karting at Sandy Creek and motorcycle racing at Morgan Park, and numbers exceeded expectations at both.

The NAB charity golf was on at the Warwick Golf Club to raise funds for the Dementia Support Group.

For those who know cricket field positions, I stood at forward point to take an action photo of Warwick Cowboys winger Brodie Quirk and he hit the ball to cover point.

No broken camera or black eye for me. Perhaps he will score the winning try in a Cowboys victory next season unless he stays with golf.
