UNCERTAINTY continues to shroud the circumstance surrounding the home-distilled alcohol tragedy that rocked Ballandean and the Granite Belt on the June long-weekend.

The tragedy left three young men dead and a fourth fighting for his life in hospital.

Stanthorpe Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Sergeant Damian Grace said he could not release any specific details of the investigation.

"Investigations are still under way," he said.

"A government medical officer, who is a doctor, in conjunction with the coroner's office, will overview the autopsy results in relation to the evidence police obtained from the scene and determine what action, if any, needs to be taken.

"We have our own thoughts on what will happen, but we are waiting for confirmation."

Det Sgt Grace said there was no way of knowing how long the process would take.

The tragedy started in the early hours of Sunday, June 9, when emergency services were called to a property at Ballandean.

Despite their best efforts, 21-year-old Joel Lynam died before Joshua Lynam, Bryan Wilmot and Vincent Summers were rushed to hospital.

Sadly, Bryan Wilmot's life support was turned off at Toowoomba Hospital on June 10, and Vincent Summers lost his fight for life at the Princess Alexandra Hospital on June 11.

Sole survivor Joshua Lynam was discharged from the PA on June 14.

In a statement, Bill Lynam said the four had been celebrating a friend's birthday at a waterhole on the property.
They had taken two litres of homebrew alcohol with them.

The incident was a further blow to the family after Mr Lynam's wife Marilyn lost her long battle with cancer just a few months earlier.
